The plot to silence the suspended Governor of CBN, Mallam Sanusi Lamido, at all cost has assumed a sad and frightening dimension. Few weeks after President Goodluck Jonathan's aide on New Media, Reno Omokri, was caught in the act of publishing false information online with a fake name – Wendel Simlin – another plot is now in motion to link Sanusi with the same allegations that Reno Omokri published.
The Federal Government and the State Security Service have accused Mallam Sanusi, of financing terrorism in the counter-affidavits they deposed to before a Federal High Court which is hearing a suit by Sanusi. The ex-CBN chief is seeking a perpetual injunction to restrain the SSS and the police from arresting him.
Reacting to the latest development, Sanusi's lawyer, Kola Awodein, said:
"The seizure of the applicant's international passport by the third respondent, is a violation of his freedom of movement. The first to third respondents give conflicting reasons as to the complaint made against the applicant: This conflict goes to show that they acted without due process of the law.
"The allegation against the applicant as to funding of terrorism, is an afterthought by the respondents, which is not backed by facts, as there is no reasonable suspicion that the applicant committed any crime.
"The law clearly defines how such duties should be performed, and so, I invite your Lordship to hold that the applicant has a cause of action against the respondent."
Justice Ibrahim Buba after taking parties' argument adjourned ruling till April 3.
The court had on February 21, granted an interim order of injunction, restraining the respondents from arresting, detaining, or harassing Sanusi pending the determination of the motion on notice.
This is according to Comedian Bovi who also Dares Wizkid to Prove His Real Age…
The popular comedian – who co-hosts this week's edition of MTV Base Official Naija Top Ten show with the regular host, Ehiz – said a lot that got people laughing non-stop in the studio.
With many celebrities posting "before" and "after" photos of themselves, to show their "Surulere" days on the social media, Bovi states that some Nigerian celebrities have avoided putting up any photos as they never experienced suffering while growing up. In his words: "Some of our celebrities like Davido have never seen or experienced suffering. He [Davido] can't even put up one 'Surulere' picture because his past is brighter than some people's future."
Bovi, in his funny character, also throws a hilarious but frank jab at Wizkid. He says:
"Wizkid is the only Nigerian boy who adds to his age while others keep reducing theirs. I believe he has never shaved before because he is just sixteen and if he is really older than that, I dare him to put up his birth certificate on Instagram to prove his real age!"
President Goodluck Jonathan has finally broken his silence on the activities of the Nigerian Governors Forum after months of claiming that he had no interest in what happens among the governors in the meetings.
Stressing that the governors almost chased him out of Aso Rock, Jonathan said:
"We thank you for this solidarity visit and for giving us a Senate President that has been able to stabilise the NASS. The governors from the zone who have been stabilising the country because the way some of the governors talk and behave, if 50 percent of the governors behave that way, probably, we would have vacated this place and allow others to come and manage it for us. But they have been able to help to stabilise the whole country…
"When the governors' forum became a monster and we had a lot of challenges, it was the North Central that came on board to stabilise the governors' forum. So, the zone has been able to produce very great leaders, not just leaders but they are patriotic leaders. So, we will continue to work with this zone; we will continue to encourage you. As we approach elections next year, let us know the problems on time. We will work with you to ensure PDP continues to maintain the zone."
The president, who made this comment when a delegation of PDP stakeholders of the North Central region, led by Senate President David Mark, paid him a visit at the presidential villa, Abuja, said the governors' forum turned itself into a monster.
But when they thought President Jonathan was going to grant their request for new roads in North Central, he told them that the request cannot be granted and that his hands are tied because "no money".
Nigeria Army
The operation is aimed at putting an end to criminal activities in the states.
The Nigerian Army on Monday said it has started a major operation in three states in the North Central region of Nigeria.
A statement by the Director of Defence Information, Chris Olukolade, said the operation is aimed at putting an end to criminal activities in the states.
The three states include: Nassarawa, Plateau and Benue states.
Mr. Olukolade said troops have already been deployed to the states to launch offensive attack to end the recent killings and property destruction going on there.
He said the Internal Security Operations will focus on capturing and neutralizing all criminal hideouts. He said the Nigerian Air Force, Police and other security agencies are also participating in the operation designed to restore peace in the affected states.
Mr. Olukolade however, admonished residents of the states to cooperate with the security operatives by providing timely and useful information to facilitate the operation.
Nassarawa, Benue and Plateau states have recently witnessed clashes between herdsmen and farmers as well as communal clashes, leading to destruction of lives and property.
The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, on Friday held a meeting with the Miyetti Allah Kutal Hore, an association of Fulani herdsmen, to resolve the recent herdsmen-farmers clashes.
The meeting, Mr. Abubakar said was to help find a lasting solution to the consistent clashes.
Also in October 2013, the then Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, Zone 4, Michael Zuokumor, in same effort charged Police Commissioners under his zone which included: Nassarawa, Benue and Plateau, to wake up to their responsibilities of protecting lives and property.
It was time again to hit the red carpet last Wednesday, March 26 at NYC's famed Ziegfeld Theater for the premiere of Noah, the biblical epic directed by Darren Oronofsky. The film starred Jennifer Connelly, Anthony Hopkins, Emma Watson and Russell Crowe. Yes, Noah had two of every animal, but only one Crowe.
Jennifer Connelly looked beautiful as she shivered on the freezing cold red carpet, not even her eyebrows could keep her warm. If you were wondering why the two caterpillars weren't on the arc, they were safe and sound on Jennifer's forehead.
Stephen Baldwin was there accompanied by his two beautiful daughters Alaia and Hailey, along with NYC power PR man Matt Rich. Stephen was as pleasant as always doing his best Blue Steel red carpet poses.
The movie was about two and half hours (actually, that's not what the movie was about, it was about a story from the bible) but I found myself much less irritated than I normally am under such circumstances. It was one of those movies that even though you know the ending — as do most people who were beaten by nuns in the third grade — you still wanted to see what happened.
I liked that this film showed the dark side of what Noah had to deal with, not including cleaning the poop deck, wasn't every deck on that boat a poop deck? The world was ending and everyone wanted to get on that boat, and would do whatever they had to, while Noah, along with some Transformer-like fallen angel rock creatures called Watchers had to kick ass to keep things under control.
Much like the arc, everybody wanted in on the Loeb Boathouse in Central Park — the location of the celeb filled after-party. Paramount packed up 10 tour buses to get everyone over there. When I say packed, any tighter and it would've smelled like day five on the arc.
Russell Crowe, who isn't best known for his social graces, was surprisingly pleasant (Jesus does performed miracles!). Crowe was a social butterfly both on the carpet and at the after-party and was happily snapping pics with guests including some selfies with 50 Cent as Connelly looked on.
Emma Watson was surrounded by some friends and a formidable blonde woman who was guarding her at the party. Watson didn't chat with guests like Crowe and the rest of the cast did, she was in fact a bit rude when a couple of fans asked for pics. Perhaps Watson forgot that she only acted in a movie that took place on water, and that she doesn't walk on it. I later read that this equally unpleasant blonde woman is an ex cop from NYC's finest named Denise Marrone hired at the cost of $150,000 a year to protect Emma from stalkers.
Regardless of Emma's 'tude, I had a great time and highly recommend everyone see this action packed modernized biblical flood movie. It's way better than the book.

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress says it has watched with amazement what it dubbed 'macabre dance' of the National Judicial Council (NJC) with regard to the appointment of Justice P.N.C Agumagu as the Chief Judge of Rivers State by the State Government.
According to the party, "going by the provisions of section 171 (1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and section 21 (d) part 1 of the third schedule of the 1999 Constitution, it is clear that the powers of the National Judicial Council (NJC) have to do only with recommending to both the President and State Governors on the appointment and disciplining of Justices and Judges. It was in line with this that the NJC recommended to President Goodluck Jonathan the suspension of the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami. President Jonathan accepted the recommendation and suspended Justice Salami.
"After due investigation, Justice Salami was cleared of any wrongdoing. The NJC again recommended his reinstatement but President Jonathan did not accept the recommendation, hence Justice Salami was never reinstated".
APC asked those that recommend what it described as 'jungle justice' on Justice Agumagu to reverse it as a matter of urgency to avoid ridiculing this great body that is expected to be the embodiment of disciple, justice, equity and fair play, adding that NJC should not for any reason dabble into the murky waters of politics and give leverage to those desperate to remove Gov. Amaechi from office before the end of his tenure, using every funny means no matter how strange to the laws of the land.
The party admonished the NJC and any other interested party that Justice Agumagu was duly approved by a competent court of jurisdiction and duly screened and approved by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
"Due process was clearly followed in his appointment as the Chief Judge of Rivers State and any act by anybody to malign the impeccable character and achievements of this great Jurist and any attempt to rubbish him is not welcome by us and the people of Rivers State", the statement concluded.
