Nigerian League: Crown FC, Akwa United, Lobi Stars win at home


All three winning teams had the home advantage.

The newcomers in the Nigerian Premier League, Crown FC, defeated Dolphins FC 2-1 in Ibadan on Sunday.

The first goal was scored by Dolphins forward, Ifeanyi Egwim, at the 12th minute with a back-heeled effort to beat Michael Uweru the goalkeeper.

Okafor Onyekachi equalized for Crown FC at the 52nd minute of the game, before he proceeded to score the match winner in the 82nd minute; making him the first player to score a double in a league match this season.

In another game, Akwa United defeated Kaduna United at the Uyo township stadium. The match ended 2-0. Namso Edo gave the Uyo-based team the lead from the penalty spot, while Emmanuel Enize scored the second goal in the 66th minute of the game.

Lobi Stars also defeated the visiting Gombe United 2-0 at the Katsina-Ala stadium.
