Nigerian League: Heartland FC to focus on lapses, official says

Club spokesman says Heartland is rebuilding a new team.

Official of Heartland FC said on Monday that the team has stopped experimenting with games and will now focus on building its lapses.

The Owerri club has played draws in two of their home matches played against Dolphins and Sharks; and lost an away game to Crown FC in the fairly new league season.

The club spokesperson, Cajetan Nkwopara, in a press statement said Heartland is rebuilding a new team which requires some period of blending and has also said they will focus more on the team's lapses,

"For now, we are through with the experiments. The management has instructed the technical crew to focus on correcting those areas of lapses witnessed in the squad," said Nkwopara.

"What this means is that those players who have not justified opportunities given to them could have their positions in the team under threat.

Yet, we need the patience and steadfast love of our supporters to achieve any meaningful target this season. That's the reason we're asking everybody to remain calm."

He added: "We understand the frustrations and worries being felt by everyone on our side and we're doing everything possible to arrest the situation."

The team is currently sitting on the 15th position on the league table, having secured 2 points from 3 matches.
