–Eagles defender rues Ghana defeat
Super Eagles defender, Azubuike Egwuekwe has lamented Nigeria's ouster in the on-going CHAN in South Africa saying luck played a fast one on the reigning African champions.
Egwuekwe who posted impressive performance in the tournament was sad that despite an excellent performance in the semi final decided Wednesday at the Mangaung Stadium, Bloemfontein, Ghana ran out winners at the expense of a better side.
"It was sad we're leaving this tournament this way. We did all the playing, created all the chances but the ball simply refused to go in.
"We we're very unlucky, look at Ugonna's header at the last minute. On a good day, that could have been a goal", the Warri Wolves center back rued.
Egwuekwe would however take solace in the performance of the team against Ghana in the semi final tie.
"Ghana were not better but luckier, that was the difference. We did our best and Nigerians saw it.
"We appreciate Nigerians support, they stood behind us all through the competition and we promise to do much better next time."
The 2016 CHAN finals will be staged in Morocco with the qualifiers slated to commence in 2015.
