It was reported that Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola had sent an e-mail to the Ghanaian Parliament on Monday, March 31st, to request investigation for the recent killing of a Nigerian student in that country.

Fashola made a statement in Ikeja, while addressing the students who came to protest against the tuition fee hike in Lagos State University.

"The killing of a Nigerian in Ghana is very unfortunate as he was a victim of very mindless violence. I am trying to reach the Ghanaian Parliament to see how we can intervene to assist in the investigation of Godwin Ayogu's incident, who died at the Cape Coast University. I sent an email to one of the parliamentarians. I am still expecting a feedback and hope the right steps will be taken," he said.

Godwin Ayogu is a 300-level Nigerian student of Gold Coast University. He was recently killed in Ghana by unknown persons. His body was discovered by the roadside. It was said that the Ghanaian authorities are yet to begin investigation about the crime.

In his speech, Fashola also mentioned the recent killing of another Nigerian student. Adelabu Tunde was a Nigerian student in Malaysia whose death was also unfortunate.

Fashola urged authorities to take necessary steps to put an end to the nonstop killings of Nigerian youths in other countries.
