Open Letter To Madam Patience Jonathan

When in 2010 there was a 'change of guards' in the highest office of the land, it was established that a 'new order' had also evolved in the position of First Lady. Naturally so! With the formal change of guards taking place as the outcome of the 2011 elections, it was established that Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and his wife had now become the new Father and Mother of the nation.

So much has happened since they assumed tenancy of the villa. There have been times of up and down, good and not so good; historic events have also taken place under the Goodluck dispensation. Let's face it, a lot has happened, and commendations should be sent the way of the President as he continues to grapple with the exigencies of office.

Well, as the saying goes, "uneasy lies the head that wears the crown!"

As with every President, the scorecard of the current President has been a subject of debate on the lips, minds, and even writings of Nigerians as a whole. Perhaps because we are drawing close to an election year, more "evaluators" are springing up by the day – for or against! Well, history will decide which way the verdict will swing!

Whilst the final analysis is left for history to tell, and posterity hangs in the shadows, perhaps it's a good time to also look at certain burning issues stirring the First Lady of the nation in the face. I mentioned earlier that as the President's wife, the position of First Lady of the nation is automatically assumed. The position of First Lady also confers the status – and huge responsibility, I daresay – of being the "Mother of the Nation," a position which requires a clear understanding, articulation, objectivity, and even temperament, in order to perform excellently in that role.

Dame Patience Jonathan is not new to the position of "First Lady," having been so when her husband assumed office as Governor of Bayelsa State a while back. Even as far back as then, she had shown a deep appreciation of her role, having initiated, and been involved in many developmental projects, in her capacity as First Lady of Bayelsa State. Philanthropy has also been an integral part of her life, as she has embarked on quite a number of successful Women Empowerment projects, with many of the beneficiaries still singing her praises to date.

Peace-keeping is also a passion of hers, going by the many Peace-oriented projects she has embarked on, leading up to her most recent confident declaration in December 2013, that she should now be known and addressed as "Mama Peace!"

Her words: "My name is no more Patience but Mama Peace, because I believe that without peace, there will be no women, children and the health sector. Without peace, the international community will be afraid to come and invest in our country. Peace is from the heart and not from the tongue or lips; not what you say but what is in you. We pray for genuine peace because peace is the key to our arriving at a desired destination as a nation."

As mentioned earlier, so much has been going on since we entered the New Year. It would be difficult to ignore the fact that violence has been rearing its head amongst us, threatening our national security, costing us many lives and properties, and denting the image of our country more and more each day. Rivers State, Borno, Maiduguri, Ilorin, have witnessed spates of violence that have kept our security apparatus working round the clock. All these practically negate the good intentions of our Mama Peace. In fact they are a challenge to the Peace that she has devoted her energies to advocating. Sadly, all these have taken place within a period of one month!

But by far the real and greatest litmus test that has been thrown in the path of "Mama Peace," is the crisis in Rivers State! Whilst not attempting to overlook, demean, or brush aside other parts of the country where skirmishes and violence have erupted – indeed, as the "Mother of the nation," Her Excellency must call all her "fighting children" (the citizens), to order – it is very clear that the Dame has to take charge of things in Rivers State in particular, and use her success there as a template to sue for peace in the other volatile sections of the country. Without meaning to sound sectional, Rivers State is her state of origin, and "charity," they say, "begins at home!"

Her Excellency can use her position to bring about peace in that State. It is no longer a matter of who is wrong, or who is right, nor even whether these eruptions are politically motivated, or nor – it is now a matter of moving to save the State from absolute collapse and destruction, where the people will suffer greatly. Her Excellency has to come out boldly, as the "Joan of Arc" of Nigeria, to call all warring parties to order, and foster peace and unity in Rivers State, in the true spirit of her name and calling, "Mama Peace!" With the various global awards, recognitions, and respect that she has received as a Peace and Development advocate, there is no better time to use her position than now.

The success that will accrue from taking such a stand is unquantifiable – Nigerians as a whole will rise up and applaud her for doing the needful, and for taking a stand against social injustice, and I'm almost certain will accord her all the support to transpose this same move to other States, and sections of the country where there is conflict. (just imagining the avalanche of awards that will follow such a move actually brings a smile to my face)!

Nigeria needs peace, Nigerians need peace! To our First Lady, the Mother of The Nation, our own Mama Peace, we say, this is our plea, that PEACE may reign across the land; so that Nigerians can live in PEACE; and the global community can perceive us as a country of PEACE.

Mikel Blasts Negative Hammers

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has said the game against West Ham United was "very difficult and frustrating."

The Premier League game at Stamford Bridge resulted in a goalless draw as the Blues failed to break through the Hammers' defensive line. With goalkeeper Adrian pulling off some strong saves to earn a point Chelsea's seven-match winning streak came to an end.

"Coming into the game we knew how they were going to approach it," said the Nigerian, 26, to Chelsea TV. "We knew they were going to make it difficult and they had almost 11 men behind the ball all the time, from the first half until the end of the game.

"It was very difficult and frustrating, we tried to find spaces between the lines and behind the defenders but it was tough.

"From their point of view they should be happy with what they achieved. They set out to defend and that's exactly what they did. I don't know what the statistics were in terms of possession but they didn't come to play, they just came to sit back."

My Apologies To Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu

I was among those in the forefront of castigating Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu when he voiced opposition to President Goodluck Jonathan's National Conference. Tinubu did not mince words in describing the proposed gathering as a Greek gift that'll bear no useful fruit.

But, along with others, I argued otherwise. And forcefully too. We felt it was the first time a sitting president would on his own without any prompting from known agitators agree that Nigeria's component units sit at a round table to chart a new course for the polity through a workable constitution. More importantly, Jonathan picked a cerebral former General Secretary of Afenifere, Senator Femi Okurounmu, as chairman of the committee to prepare a road map for the conference.
That sealed it for us given Afenifere's position that the ethnic nationalities which make up Nigeria must return to the negotiating table as they did before independence to fashion a new constitution for the country.
Okurounmu was not just another Afenifere scribe. He had a pedigree. Apart from serving as a senator on the platform of Alliance for Democracy (AD) (1999 – 2003), he carved a niche for himself as a staunch proponent of a Sovereign National Conference. A scholar and a person many of us considered a deep thinker, we had no doubt he'll not disappoint. We said so in so many words in several places using different platforms to confront those who did not believe in the conference. But we now know better.
With developments arising out of Okurounmu's work thus far, I want to admit that we missed it. Jonathan sold us a dummy. And Okurounmu disappointed us in his old age. And I wonder what these old men are leaving behind as legacies with the decreasing distance between them and their graves. How will Chief Adekunle Ajasin feel? What'll be the position of Pa Solanke Onasanya? What kind of words would Senator Abraham Adesanya reserve for Okurounmu, who for whatever it is worth has put a final nail in the coffin of whatever little respect the average Yoruba has for Afenifere?
A National Conference is a veritable admission that the foundation of a polity has given way. It is the shortest route to dismantling that polity without the chaos and casualties of a civil war – and putting the humpty dumpty back again before detractors get to know what is happening. And that can only be done as it was in the beginning before Nigeria got her independence from Britain – our different ethnic nationalities MUST sit and discuss the basis of the Nigerian union.
Any National Conference without the ethnic nationalities as primary participants remain a mere talkshop. It cannot work. It will fail. It is also a wrong position to have a National Conference submit what it arrives at to the National Assembly. A genuine gathering to change the current constitution should have the National Assembly and two-thirds of the state Houses of Assembly giving a go-ahead to the National Conference that whatever it comes up with is final and binding as articles of faith in running our affairs as a nation. That is what we were expecting to happen in this instance, not a return to the same circle of political actors who brought us to this sorry state – a patient cannot treat him/herself.

It appears Tinubu, with his many shortcomings, is better at seeing deeper than most of his critics as I am one of them. There is hardly anything an average Yoruba want than a restructured polity in today's Nigeria with its flawed federal structure. Of course, genuine South-South patriots – not militants turn merchants – want the same thing.

But this Jonathan CONference has turned out a 419 project to get mainstream Yoruba behind his re-election bid. It is now clear the whole charade is political 419. And Tinubu said this earlier. But we did not listen. Instead, we hurled abuses in his direction. Those of us on this side meant well for ourselves, and our people. But we appear too romantic in our reasoning and arguments. And I don't think that is bad because we desperately want things to work despite all the visible obstacles. So, any little sign of light proving the end of the tunnel is here, we rush there with joy.
But in the case of this Jonathan's CONference, my sincere apologies to Tinubu. He got it right. We missed it.

Football pundit Andy Gray’s chances of rehabilitation take a hit – World Soccer Daily

Andy Gray and Richard Keys

Andy Gray's return to our television screens may be short lived.

Andy Gray returned to live British televised football with BT Sport last weekend, but after a new video of sexist behaviour from his Sky Sports days was published online, it may be some time before we see him again on our TV screens.

Gray, who has been working alongside his former Sky colleague Richard Keys at BeInSport in Qatar after he was fired by Sky in 2011 following the release of footage that showed them making sexist off-air comments, was hired by BT last weekend for Stevenage's FA Cup tie against Everton.

But the new video, posted on the Football Ramble website, Keys and Gray first joking with touchline reporter Clare Tomlinson and telling her to get off the pitch. They then burst into a chorus of "get your tits out for the lads" and the camera cuts back to them in the studio laughing.

The newly leaked footage appears designed to cause Gray maximum embarrassment at a time when his career could be on an upward curve. Identifying the person responsible for the leak may prove tricky, but if it is a former colleague appalled at his possible rehabilitation, then at least the search for the culprit can be narrowed down to several hundred people.

A BT Sport spokeswoman said on Thursday night: "Andy Gray made a guest appearance last weekend and we were happy with his commentary." She refused to comment on whether the broadcaster would employ him again. One Sky source said: "We recognised this as an issue three years ago and we dealt with it."

Keys and Gray were the face of Sky's football coverage for 20 years, but the pair waved goodbye to their high profile roles when a tape of them discussing female assistant referee Sian Massey was leaked to a newspaper and they were suspended.

Manchester City in deadline day pursuit of Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando – World Soccer Daily

Eliaquim Mangala

Eliaquim Mangala is a theme of a deadline day bid from Manchester City

Manchester City are looking to lift off a late understanding to pointer Porto span Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando in a corner understanding worth £37.8m.

City have been tracking Mangala, 22, for some time meaningful a buyout proviso in a Frenchman's agreement is £37.8m. Porto value Fernando, 26, during £7m even yet a defensive midfielder from Brazil will be a giveaway representative in a summer.

However, according to reports, a total figure of £35m could be concluded if City are prepared to do business before Friday's deadline.

Both players have been watched by a series of English clubs, yet City, with a clearly unfounded good of income to pull upon, are doubtful to face critical foe for their signatures.

This kind of understanding is mostly described by a media as 'a matter of intent', yet when one considers that City are now tip of a Premier League and sloping by only about everybody to win it this season, one wonders what precisely their vigilant competence be. Perhaps they intend to massage their rivals noses in it. This seems reduction a matter of vigilant and some-more a matter of financial recklessness.

Just for a record, the club's net spend on actor transfers has been £582million between Sheikh Mansoir's 2008 takeover and May final year. And that was before they spent £84m on a likes of Fernandinho, Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic.

Financial Fair Play anyone? Hilariously, nonetheless a manners introduced by UEFA were dictated to diminish this form of large overspend, it would seem that City are set to approve with them this year.

Thanks to a order that creates salary paid out for players sealed before 2010 irrelevant and a towering volume of income spent on work carried out on a club's track and infrastructure, a Sheikh Mansour bankrolled bar are approaching to pass a test.

And if they pass a test, it seems hardly trustworthy that any bar could destroy it. So most for Financial Fair Play.

So what does £35 million buy we these days. Quite a lot it would seem. Here's some footage of a rarely rated Mangala in action.

Gabriel: Expect Brand New Eagles In Brazil

–Sunshine star says CHAN tourney is a good lesson for Nigeria

Sunshine Stars ace Ikenna Gabriel has put the disappointment of the 2014 CHAN behind and instead focusing on the World Cup finals in Brazil in the summer.

"Super Eagles have taken football to another level", the home based Eagles star told Complete Sports at the team's President Hotel, Naval Villa, Bloemfontein Thursday.

"So you'll see a brand new Super Eagles at the World Cup", he added.

Forced to reflect on the team's CHAN ouster in the hands of Ghana, Gabriel said it's important they take something home for Nigerians.

"Nigerians love trophies and we are not happy not winning the cup for them but we have to make sure we won the third place match so as to give them the bronze medal.

"When we were coming from Abuja, we set a target for ourselves to bring home the CHAN cup but as fate would have it, we're unable to do that but I think we should compensate them with the bronze which is why we must go all out to beat Zimbabwe on Saturday", he Said.

Gervais Martel is back and so too are Lens

Lens Stade Felix Bollaert

The Nord Pas de Calais region at France's northernmost tip shares many similarities with England's North West. A prosperous era as industrial hub followed the discovery and exploitation of coal mines in the 19th century, and the forced closing of these mines in the 1980s cast an economic shadow which both regions still feel today. Largely bypassed by tourists, shunned by political decision-makers, it is in these forgotten regions that both countries find some of their most adored football clubs.

Few clubs in France embody their region better than RC Lens. Just a hundred kilometers south of Calais into French territory, the city of Lens bears the colours and nickname paying a tribute to its mining past. Every other week, tribes of Sang et Or (Blood and Gold) fans sweep into Stadium Bollaert-Delelis, whose capacity of 41,229 makes it 4,000 seats bigger than the city's population, with the enthusiasm and reverence of their grandfathers descending into mines where they would spend the day.

There does appear to be light at the end of the tunnel for RC Lens, relegated to the French second division in 2011. With the greatest fan base in France and its historical president back at the helm with an Azerbaijani billionaire in his pocket, the club is on its way back to Ligue 1 at the same time as arch-rivals Lille hold their own against much more opulent and popular rivals at the top of the French football hierarchy. These two clubs polarise the devotion of football fans in the Northern part of France, and their clashes (known as the 'Derby du Nord') are among French football's most coveted derbies.

The translation of miners' togetherness to the region's foremost football clubs, revered and admired with arguably more passion than in other parts of the country, is also what led one man to dedicate his entire life to building the RC Lens institution. At the age of 16, uninterested by school, Gervais Martel is taken by his engineer father down into Pit 9 in Oignies, ten kilometres east of Lens. He witnessed the countless workers toiling in excruciating conditions, but with a sense of togetherness born of the adversity.

Almost thirty years later, chairing RC Lens as they celebrated their first ever French league title in the street, he remembered those same people flooding the streets. Gervais Martel, the man who built this club from root to tip, recalls the day that followed RC Lens' last league title in 1998:

"I remember people surrounding us in the streets, their eyes filled with tears and some sort of recovered dignity. Forgotten by political leaders left and right, they were home to the best side in the country. What's more, they identified with their players, hard-working and devoted to the task as were Tony Vairelles, Guillaume Warmuz, Anto Drobnjak or the late Marc-Vivien Foé."

A relative stability followed the side's title with six consecutive seasons in the upper half of the Ligue 1 table from 2001 to 2007. Much of this success down to president Martel's sound financial management having convinced city mayor André Delelis to introduce him to the club's administration board in 1986 with RC Lens collecting debt. Taking over fully in 1988, he stabilised the side financially and made gains every year from 1988 to 2007. This policy culminated with the side's title and allowed Gervais Martel to dream big – perhaps too big.

In the meantime and despite an undying fan base, the side gradually deteriorated in quality with every player being replaced by a mildly inferior one. The first warning came in 2009 when the club was relegated to Ligue 2, but they promptly made their way back to the top flight the next season having won the title.

Martel had already survived two relegations during his tenure. For him, and despite his thorough approach to club finances, football is ultimately nothing more than a bit of a gamble. Asked to explain the failures that brought him to step down in 2012 he replied "have you ever tried drinking beer with your feet?" Football, its unfortunate injuries and last-minute winners, is not the most favourable ground for long-term business plans, as he would painfully learn later.

Two years after cruising through Ligue 2 and making a swift comeback to the French top flight, RC Lens were relegated again in 2011 with club legend Jean-Guy Wallemme departing as head coach, swiftly followed by Gervais Martel.

One often understates how much a football club can mean to its president. Players and coaches are here on a temporary basis and even if they love their side, they have such an immediate pressure to perform that it prevents a lot of them from enjoying their stay at their beloved club. Presidents on the other hand are generally here to stay and have more time on their hands – some would say too much time – for the development of their institution. When their time is up they can sometimes be as lost as a recently retired footballer or freshly fired manager. What's more, finding a new occupation can be an even more daunting task.

For Gervais Martel, a former street hawker selling newspapers in the streets of Lens at the age of 16 whose lifetime ambition was to lead RC Lens as president because he was "not good enough as a player to make it on the pitch", being ousted by new shareholders Credit Agricole (the largest retail banking group in the country) was a cruel blow. The man who just a few years before was speaking to the press about his RC Lens business plans for 2014 – 2019 was suddenly left on the fringes, surplus to requirements.

Spending most of his time watching sport and "listening to rock classics" (Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard – real music!), Gervais Martel bided his time and carefully prepared a comeback. Some may argue his passion for the role sometimes superseded his passion for the club, but he was determined. During his vacation in Cannes in August 2012, Martel was introduced to Azerbaijan investor Hafiz Mammadov, a billionaire in love with the game who already held shares in Atletico Madrid and FC Porto. After several trips to Azerbaijan, introducing Mammadov to club legend Jean-Pierre Papin and speaking of the youth academy that produced Raphael Varane and Thorgan Hazard in the recent memory, Gervais Martel convinced the oligarch to invest in his side and re-introduce him as club president.

Joint second in Ligue 2 alongside Angers, RC Lens brought in Antoine Kombouaré as head coach and plan to climb back to Ligue 1 as soon as possible, with a mid-term objective to have a quarter of their first team coming from the La Gaillette youth academy.

Gervais Martel is wary of the dangers of attempting to rival PSG and AS Monaco and will certainly look to keep a low profile once his men reach the French top flight. But the dedication and passion of the man for his club, alongside that of countless fans waiting to rekindle their rivalry with Lille in the Derby du Nord, is what French football truly needs at this time of criticism for a perceived lack of authenticity.

Egwuekwe: We Were Unlucky

–Eagles defender rues Ghana defeat

Super Eagles defender, Azubuike Egwuekwe has lamented Nigeria's ouster in the on-going CHAN in South Africa saying luck played a fast one on the reigning African champions.

Egwuekwe who posted impressive performance in the tournament was sad that despite an excellent performance in the semi final decided Wednesday at the Mangaung Stadium, Bloemfontein, Ghana ran out winners at the expense of a better side.

"It was sad we're leaving this tournament this way. We did all the playing, created all the chances but the ball simply refused to go in.

"We we're very unlucky, look at Ugonna's header at the last minute. On a good day, that could have been a goal", the Warri Wolves center back rued.

Egwuekwe would however take solace in the performance of the team against Ghana in the semi final tie.

"Ghana were not better but luckier, that was the difference. We did our best and Nigerians saw it.

"We appreciate Nigerians support, they stood behind us all through the competition and we promise to do much better next time."

The 2016 CHAN finals will be staged in Morocco with the qualifiers slated to commence in 2015.

Agbim Sad Over Ghana Defeat

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Chigozie Agbim looked down cast and frustrated after his side failed to go past Black Stars of Ghana in the grueling semi final clash on Wednesday.

Agbim who posted slight improvement in successive games during the competition, said he could not believe Ghana eventually won the game.

"We came here determined to make Nigeria proud by lifting the trophy. We had a good game and were clearly better than Ghana but it was sad we could not translate our superior play into goals", the Enugu Rangers goaltender lamented.

"Football is funny, full of surprises and we've seen one today and when a game drags into penalty kicks, it becomes anybody's game.

"Ghana have had the last laugh today, I congratulate them but I commend my teammates because they have shown the team has character", Agbim said.

Fredy Guarin furious with Inter trying to sell him without his consent – World Soccer Daily

Fredy Guarin

Fredy Guarin is unhappy at Inter trying to sell him without his consent.

Inter midfielder Fredy Guarin has launched taken to Twitter, to accuse Inter of putting him up for sale without his consent.

The 27-year-old was on the verge of joining Juventus last week in an exchange deal involving Mirko Vucinic, but the transfer collapsed at the 11th hour when Inter president Erick Thohir controversially called it off.

The Colombia international's future at Inter is still very much in the balance as the January transfer deadline looms, and he has now angrily hit out at the club – contradicting reports that it was he who wanted to leave.

"Inter, it is you who put me up for sale without asking me," Guarin tweeted.

"I was feeling calm and good at the club. I want clarity and respect – for me, my agent and the supporters.

"For the fans, I just want to thank you because you have been affectionate and respectful towards me and appreciated my work.

"If I have to leave, you will always be in my heart because at Inter I made a dream come true. If I remain, I will use all my power and all my heart to help Inter win."

Guarin has attracted interest from a number of clubs this month and Inter expect to receive further transfer inquiries ahead of Friday's deadline.

Real Madrid unveil plans for new Bernabeu – World Soccer Daily

New Bernabeu

While some clubs in Spain are struggling to pay their players, there are others – well, two – for whom money is no object.

Coincidentally, though probably not, those two clubs, Barcelona and Real Madrid, who between them receive 46 per cent of all TV revenue in Spain, have announced plans to extend and renovate their current stadiums.

Barcelona are to approach their members for permission to extend the capacity of the iconic Camp Nou to 105,000, while Madrid have unveiled a £330m redesign plan they hope will turn their Santiago Bernabeu ground into the best stadium in the world.

German architects GMP's design have won the international tender and work will begin at the end of the season. A new exterior will be built that includes a retractable roof and is due to be completed by 2017.

"We want to make the Santiago Bernabeu the best stadium in the world," said Real Madrid President Florentino Perez.

"Our commitment is to continue increasing the heritage of our club, thus gain in economic strength, so we can continue to lead in an environment of increasing competition.

"It is impossible to understand everything that Real Madrid is today without this stadium. The stadium remodel is a strategic drive towards modernity. Building and raising the stadium was a challenge in its day.

Santiago Bernabéu paved the way and we became the leader in sports venues. This stadium and the signing of Alfredo Di Stéfano changed the legend of Real Madrid. The new twenty-first century Santiago Bernabéu will continue to be a privileged, emotional place and a source of pride for all our members and fans".

"We believe in a project that will enhance our image, brand and city that we also feel proud of."

Looking at the projected images of the new stadium, there will be much to be proud of.

Reports in the Spanish media suggest half the financing for the project would come from selling naming rights and the rest from a bond issue among Real members. The real cost though, will be paid by fellow Spanish clubs left behind by the Barcelona-Real Madrid duopoly, who can no longer compete and in some cases can no longer pay their players.

KESHI: I'M IN LOVE WITH THESE EAGLES

Keshi, it's sad Nigeria is out of this competition but given the fact that the Super Eagles had been the highest scoring side in the tournament, one then asks where did the goals go against Ghana?

First, I have to congratulate the Ghanaians for their victory which has qualified them for the final coming up on Saturday. Yes the goals didn't come, of course when you have two great sides playing, it always turns out a difficult game in which chances and goals don't come too often. You might just have a hence; it might even be a half opportunity. Today we saw two teams that were fighting practically the battle of their lives, so to say and it didn't quite come and that's how football is.

There was much hype about the Nigeria/Ghana rivalry before this game,do you think the outcome is a reflection of Ghana superiority?

(Cuts in) I disagree, it's a Ghana superiority over Nigeria. I don't think so. May be in those days before we started playing, during our age group, it was almost Ghana affair. Let us say the better side won today and I congratulate the Ghanaian team. Like I said during my press conference on Tuesday that you never know, we gonna wait until the end of 90 minutes and that's just it.
But your team played well to deserve victory…

We always try to play well in every game, we try to play it the way it should, adding value to the game which is why the fans come around to enjoy themselves, but it's not always who plays better that goes home with victory like you saw today. Luck and grace of God come in but my philosophy is to give value to the game through quality play and of course, get win at the end.

What positive do you take from this tournament as regards your young squad and plans for them especially going into the World Cup in Brazil?

Well, this team, should I call it a team, collection of players because this is our sixth week coming together. I'm beginning to fall in love with them. By the time I stay six months with them, they will become what I want from them and they will perform more than wonderful. What they did after the game with Mali was phenomenal, something that will take me six months, one year to build. In a couple of weeks they were showing me a lot of talents and I salute them, I respect them for what they did for Nigeria and for themselves. Because they needed to express and respect themselves because there's World Cup in front in five months from now. Of course, the highest any player can dream to achieve for himself is to play in the World Cup. I know most of them have the target to be at the World Cup in Brazil. But I have some names that are in my pocket. I won't tell you, I'll wait for a while before I release it. But it's been a good lesson, a learning curve and I'm sure it's their dream to play in the tournament.

You perhaps thought the game was on the dead when Ugochukwu came up with that smashing header that surprisingly tipped into corner by Ghana goalkeeper, Stephen Adams. What's your rating of the goalkeeper's performance?

I think the young goalkeeper did a wonderful job, and of course, that was reason he was there to do the job. He's there to stop goals, he's paid to stop goals, and his career is to save goals. He did a wonderful job and I would have loved it to be at the back of the net but when you see an outstanding goalkeeper like that, it can go in but it will take a time. That's what he has proved in this game, I think he's 60 percent Ghanaian team and I wish him well.

Did the outcome of this game dampen your spirit?

My spirit will not damage… You wanna kill me? I'm not ready to die now. Its football, you win some and you lose some. We lost today, for me we've got to move on because life goes on no matter what. You don't die on the field of play, someone is gonna continue.

The Big Boss, Ghana played for almost an hour with 10 men and expectation was the Eagles would take advantage of their advantage numerical strength but it didn't happen. Tell, us what really went wrong?

The fact we lost the game doesn't mean anything went wrong. Ghana/Nigeria game, you never can tell until the final whistle. Because they had one man sent off doesn't mean we're going to kill them. You

find out that in some other matches when a team is one man down that's when they dominate the game. Today the Ghanaian team was well organized behind, every player was falling behind just for us not to have a space to score which they did well. We didn't do too well in getting ourselves into the position where we had few chances to score. It happens so that was it.

Coach, the third place match comes up Saturday against Zimbabwe. Perhaps you will want to take something home from the tournament?

Yeah, Zimbabwe is a good side, just like Ghana so far in the tournament; they have conceded only one goal within regulation time. We gonna face them hoping to win and getting something home for our efforts but I must say such games (bronze matches) are always tough to play.
